Before you begin
A live call needs configured Supabase, Vapi, and Twilio services, an agent, an active connected number, a verified owner phone, and the limits and credits required by your plan. A marketing preview with missing provider settings cannot place a real call. Start by creating an account and completing the onboarding steps.
1. Describe the business
Add the business name, industry, website, and languages. Start with a narrow task, such as collecting a quote request or an administrative scheduling request. Your first test should not require the agent to make a sensitive decision or an irreversible commitment.
2. Choose a template
Pick Receptionist, Lead follow-up, Scheduling, Dispatch, or a blank configuration. Review the greeting, information to collect, escalation instructions, and permitted tools. Add only source information you are allowed to use.
3. Connect a number
Search for an eligible number in the onboarding flow or review bring-your-own Twilio setup. Provisioning may require a plan, verified account details, available credit, explicit approval, and provider eligibility. Number porting is a planned workflow and should not be assumed to work from the initial search screen.
4. Verify and test
Verify your own phone with the SMS code. Then use Call me now to request a test to that verified number. Read the consent statement and approve the action before it runs. Check the transcript and the recorded outcome in the Calls page after the provider sends the result.
5. Review before expanding
Listen for the right questions, correct pronunciation, and a clear handoff. Update instructions and test again if the agent misses a detail. Start with one defined workflow rather than giving an agent broad permission to do anything a caller asks.
